Portland Group Compilers

Portland logoThe Portland Group (http://www.pgroup.com) makes C, C++, Fortran 77, Fortran 90, and HPF compilers for Intel platforms. OSC has acquired 100 licenses which are node-locked meaning they are bound to a particular computer and may still be used when that computer is disconnected from the Internet.

Get installation instructions, register and DOWNLOAD the PGI Workstation release for your computer. Read and follow the installation instructions except don't contact Portland Group directly and, when asked "Create an evaluation license? [y/n]", reply "y". At the end of the installation, something close to the following will be displayed:

Name: Polly Programmer
User: polly
Email: polly@osc.edu
Hostid: PGI=9BF378E0131FF0C3CD37F6
FLEXlm hostid: 00a024a3dfe7
Hostname: parrot.osc.edu
Installation: /usr/pgi

E-mail this text along with your OSC user id, e.g., osc123, to oschelp@osc.edu. We will process your license information and return to you by email replacement text for the license.dat file found in the installation directory. Also indicate whether or not this is trial use or you need the license long term. We will grant a license good for up to a year if requested. Documentation on using the Portland compilers may be found at http://www.pgroup.com/docs.htm.
