Open Source Software for Cluster Ohio

The packages available through this page are not part of the Statewide License software program. Click on the 'Statewide' navigation menu item to learn more about the software available.

The collection of Linux clusters that comprise Cluster Ohio all use a modified Red Hat Linux distribution that allows the sharing of a single 'root' filesystem for all the nodes of the cluster. This is accomplished by exploiting a feature of the Linux kernel that allows the root filesystem to be located on an NFS server. The creators of this method most likely envisioned unique root filesystems for each nfs client. With the modifications using the cloh scripts below we are able to share one root filesystem, read-only.

cloh Scripts

cloh is a collection scripts that assist OSC in configuring a Red Hat install to be used as an NFS-Root server.

  • cloh-1.0.0.tgz
  • clconfig Cluster Configuration language

clconfig allows for concise description of all the hardware that make up the cluster and management of configuration files for net-booting, Open PBS batch system, etc...

  • clconfig-2.0-8.i386.rpm
  • clconfig-2.0-8.src.rpm
  • Modules

OSC maintains an RPM package of the software created by the modules project at http://modules.sourceforge.net .

  • modules-env-3.1.6-9.src.rpm
  • modules-env-3.1.6-9.i386.rpm
  • Open PBS

The download below is a locally mainained and heavily modified version of Open PBS-2.3.12 that is used on all OSC and Cluster Ohio systems. In addition to this download, please see the following web pages for information about the patches OSC maintains and configurations and tools for managing PBS.

  • pbs-2.3.12-28.src.rpm
  • Maui and Silver Meta-scheduler

http://www.supercluster.org/ develops the Maui scheduler that OSC uses on all clusters at OSC and Cluster Ohio systems. OSC maintains an RPM of clustersuite (Maui and Silver).
